Let the Buyer Beware!

Let the Buyer Beware!

Properties in Scotland are sold under the principle of caveat emptor (buyer beware), which means responsibility for assessing the condition of the property and identifying any defects rests with the buyer. Nowadays buyers have home reports to help make an informed decision. However,  home reports have their limitations! Only in very limited situations will defects be covered by the missives (contract) after you move in. The best advice if you are unsure about buying a property and what is involved is to speak to one of our solicitors BEFORE making an offer.
